Virginia L. Jones-Greene, beloved daughter of the late Norward
and Martha Greene-Jones was born on February 20, 1946 in
Orville, AL., and went home to glory peacefully at home
surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, February 9, 2021.
Virginia was the first and oldest grandchild of the Greene family
and was name after her late grandmother Virginia Molette-Greene.
Virginia was educated in Chicago, IL, and found her residency in
Connecticut in 1964 where she later became an employee at Pratt
& Whitney Aircraft in North Haven, CT. After which, she was
employed as a private nurse's assistance and a daycare assistant at
New Haven Jewish Home. Virginia was a member of Faith Temple
C.O.G.I.C., in New Haven, CT under the leadership of Bishop
Colon and Doretha Haywood.
Virginia leaves to cherish her memory: Two (2) sons, Marvin
(Mae) Jones of Meriden, CT, and Vondell Smith of New Haven,
CT; Two (2) daughters, Denetria (Kesha) Greene, and Martina
Brown of New Haven, CT. (17) grandchildren; (12) great grands.
Two (2) brothers, Roger, and Melvin Jones of New Haven, CT;
Two (2) sisters, Laverta (Bert) Knox of New Haven, CT, and
Rena' Jones-Lewis (Joseph) of Meriden, CT. Four aunts, Annie
Lee Hunter of Chicago, IL, Mary Lee Young of Orville, AL, Elder
Barbara (Cain) Beauford, and Claudia Foy both of West Haven,
CT, and Minnie Bell Washington of Hamden, CT. A host of
nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Virginia was predeceased
by her paternal grandparents, Mr., and Mrs. Laverta Wright-Jones;
maternal grandparents, Willie, and Virginia Molette-Greene;
brothers, Anthony, Marvin, Arthur, Howard, James, and John (twin
brothers) Jones; aunts, Ella Smith, and Dorothy Givens; uncles,
Matthew and Willie Greene, Jr.
Sleep on Virginia, take your rest ~ God knew what was best...

A celebration of Virginia's life will be held on on Wednesday February 17, 2021 at Hamden Memorial Funeral Home, 1300 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden at 2pm. Viewing in the funeral home from 1pm-2pm. Condolences may be expressed at Hamdenmemorialfuneralhome.com.
