On Tuesday, January 17th, Vicente Rivera Melendez, 67, passed away at Lancaster General Hospital in Pennsylvania where he lived most of his life. He was predeceased by both his parents, Maria Melendez and Francisco Estrada. Vicente was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico on September 5, 1955. He loved listening and singing to ranchera music on a daily basis. He was very much loved and his passing has left a huge hole in our hearts. He leaves behind his only daughter, Marilyn Rivera whom he loved very much, and seven grandchildren. He is survived by his 12 sisters and brothers: Elba Iris, Carmen, Rosa, Tita, Sophie, Julia, Maria Antonia, Sara; Juan, Gamalier, Orlando, and Celestino. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
His wake will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023, from 5 to 9 PM at Hamden Memorial Funeral Home located at 1300 Dixwell Avenue in Hamden. Vicente's ashes will be buried at his mother's burial site at Evergreen Cemetery on Thursday, February 2 at 10:30 AM.
