Ms. Shirley Carr Green 87, of New Haven CT., entered eternal peace on December 29, 2023, at Home in New Haven CT, surrounded by her loving family...

She was born October 22,1937 in Pitts County Greenville North Caroline, to the late Wilton and Clara Carr.

Shirley attended public school and graduated from CEF High School in Greenville North Caroline Shortly after she moved to New Haven Ct, in 1959. Shirley also attended Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven Ct. where she received her associate degree.

Shirley was employed as a Social Worker at Connecticut Mental Health in New Haven, CT for over twenty years, before she retired from there. Shirley was a very kind and gentle soul. Shirley had a loving and generous heart and was always giving to others. She was a loving Mother to her son and Entire family. Her passion was playing Jeopardy, Scrabble and putting together Puzzles. But most of all Shirley loved the Lord, a few of her favorite songs where, His eyes are on the Sparrow, I won't Complain, I'm going up yonder and this little line of mine. Shirley was a lifelong member of Peoples Missionary Baptist Church in New Haven, CT.

She was a woman of faith and spirituality. Shirley had a real zest for life. She leaves to cherish her Loving memory, One Son Gerald Carr of New Haven CT. Three Grandchildren Tanika Mitchell, Alfonso Smokes and Dejia (POOH Bear's) Carr all New Haven Ct. Two Sister Doris Spellman, Pauline Wooten Both of Greenville North Caroline. She will truly be missed by her four nephews Ronald, Clifton Jr, Reggie, Keith, and niece Debra, Verna Simms (The Golden Girl) Rev. Margaret Glover, Sister Bless and a host of nephews, nieces, and family. She was predeceased by her mother Clara Carr at an early age. One sister Louella Howard, Three Brothers Wilton Carr Jr Willie (Ben) Carr and Clavin Earl Carr. Thanks to two special friends Rhonda, Vanessa for helping out with my mom! And a special thanks to Margaret (Golden Girl) Hasell.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 2-4pm at Hamden Memorial Funeral home, 1300 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden CT 06514. Condolences may be expressed at Hamdememorialfuneralhome.com.
