Obituary

Salvatore V. Lupone, peacefully passed into the hands of God on September 20, 2022. Sal was born in New Haven on May 14, 1948, to Vincent and MaryGrace (Fusco) Lupone. Sal married the love of his life, Marina (Calderaro) Lupone, and spent 24 years enjoying travel and spending time with family and friends. Sal is survived by his two sisters, Phyllis (Robert) Brunell and Marabel (Joseph) Santagata. He was the proud uncle of Mary (Tom) Pursell, Gloria (Ernie) Ybarra, Phyllis (David) Lobo, Joseph (Christine) Santagata, MaryGrace (Michael) Crisci, and Robert Brunell, II.  Sal leaves many great nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss his steadfast love and laughter. Sal obtained an Associate degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of New Haven. Sal worked at the United Illuminating Company and retired after thirty-plus years of service. He was an active member of the Amity Club, the Order Sons of Italy No. 37, the Elks Club and Association of Plumbing and Heating Inspectors. Sal held several positions in the New Haven Lion's Club, serving multiple years as President. He was the past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus San Salvador Council No. 1 and a 4 th Degree member of the John Barry Assembly No. 97. Sal was blessed with the care of many doctors and nurses during his illness. The family would like to thank Dr. David Lobo, Dr. Stacey Stein, Dr. Jacqueline Henchel, and the many caring medical professionals from the MICU at Yale New Haven Hospital who showed him love and dignity. We would especially like to thank his caregiver, Marva Spooner, for her friendship and exceptional care.

Friends and family may call Thursday September 22 nd from 4 - 8 pm at Hamden Memorial Funeral Home, 1300 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden, CT. Salvatore's Funeral Procession will leave Hamden Memorial Friday Morning at 9:30am for a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Friday September 23 rd , 2022 at St. Aedan's Catholic Church, 112 Fountain St., New Haven. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Our Lady of Grace Monastery, 11 Race Hill Road, North Guilford, CT 06437-1099.
