Robert Joseph Bucko, 83, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on November 7, 2023.  He was born in 1940 in Fall River, Massachusetts to the late Bernard and Viola (Ziobro) Bucko.

Bob worked as a research chemist with Olin Corporation for over 30 years.  Upon retirement he continued working as a substitute teacher for 13 years at the Hamden High and Middle Schools.  Prior to his employment at Olin, Bob was an award winning photographer and member of the Fall River Camera Club. He served in the United States Army and was a decorated Vietnam veteran.

Bob was passionate about life in the church.  He was a former communicant of Blessed Sacrament and later St. John the Baptist church where he taught CCD for many years, also serving as Parish Council president.

In his later years, Bob enjoyed the simple things in life such as cooking and bowling in which he was a member of several leagues.  He was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to classical music and watching sports.  His main joy came when he was able to spend time with his family for holidays, birthdays and get-togethers.

Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years Evelyn "Nena", his daughter Jennifer, and his four sons Timothy, Christopher, Jonathan, Matthew, his wife Mary and children, along with grandchildren Connor, Makenzee and Gianna.  He is also survived by his sister Dorothy and her husband James Caldiero.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday, November 15th, 2023, from 9:30-10:30am at Hamden Memorial Funeral Home, 1300 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 321 Circular Avenue, Hamden.  Burial with full military honors will be at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown at 1:00 pm.
