Dr. Richard Monserrate Muñiz Rodríguez passed unexpectedly on January 17, 2021, at the age of 75.

Born in Puerto Rico, he followed family to the northeast, later enlisting in the Air Force, serving a tour of duty in Vietnam, and ultimately rising to the rank of sergeant.

Richard devoted his life to family, higher education, and charitable foundations. He earned multiple deanships and supported his students' educational goals. He was an immersive world traveler.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Andrea, Daniel, and Felicia, grandchildren, Rhys and Veronica, family and friends.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday January 24, 2021 at Hamden Memorial Funeral Home, 1300 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden from 1-3:30pm, service will start at 3:30pm.
