Ricardo Bernard
Wentworth
Nov 30, 1964 — Dec 29, 2023
Pineville
Ricardo Bernard Wentworth was born in November 30, 1964 in New Haven, CT. He passed away on December 29, 2023 after a sudden decline in his health.
He is survived by his parents Clifford Wentworth, Sr.(Rose) of New Haven and Bettie Jones of Charlotte, NC; daughter Rashonda and two grandchildren of Crowley, LA; brothers Clifford White(Denise), and Justin Wentworth; his former wife, Althea Francis of Kaplan, LA; uncles Joseph Gause, Sr. of Hamden, CT, Thomas Davis(Lucille) of Cheshire, CT and Bishop Shirley Davis of Charlotte, NC; nieces Michelle Hughes of Clinton, MD and Audrey Hayes(Anthony) of New Haven, CT and a host of cousins, great nieces and nephews and longtime friends he left to mourn.
He was a loving father, son, brother, nephew and friend. His passion and loyalty to those he loved was unwavering. His infectious smile, laughter and humor will live on forever.
After high school, his sense of adventure led him to join the US Army in 1986, at Fort Sill, Ok where he was stationed. He fell in love with the southwestern part of the country and lived in Pineville, LA where he remained until his death.
Over the years, Rick was aware of his gifts for making his audience laugh as well as his enjoyment in feeding them. This led him to the VA Hospital in the path of food service management with a joke on the side. He took his work ethics seriously, even in sickness and often refused help from his co-workers for tasks they believed were too heavy for him to perform; nor did he want to miss a day of work unless he was physically unable to move. Rico, as his friends called him was described as the ultimate jokester. He had a joke for every situation that presented a challenge and believed joking was a sure way to help the people around him forget the pain they were experiencing, at least temporarily. One of his favorite past times was watching a good western and making plans for a quick trip home. Before his health began to fail, he was able to do just that.
A special thanks to Pierre, Isaac and Jean, all of whom become Rick's extended family. They became his caregivers as his illness progressed for which we are eternally grateful.
