As a faithful woman of God, we know that our beloved Marian E. Williams was welcomed into the Lord’s presence on September 17th, 2026. Born to her predeceased parents, Harvey Williams Sr. and Lossie Belle Mewborn, Marian entered this life on March 26th, 1955 in Grifton (Pitt County), North Carolina. In 1965, at the age of 10, the family relocated to New Haven, Connecticut where she attended and graduated from Lee High School. During her teenage years, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior while a member of Christ Chapel New Testament in New Haven, Connecticut under the leadership of the late Bishop William M. Philpot Sr., she would later become a member of Faith Temple Revival Center in Hamden, Connecticut under the leadership of the late Pastor Wilhelmina Redmon.

In 1980, Marian began her professional career at Yale New Haven Hospital as a Food Service Associate. For 37 years, she dedicated her life to the job and formed many friendships along the way. She was the most selfless woman. She never complained, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever she crossed paths with. Marian enjoyed spending time and spoiling family, home cooked meals and online shopping. Some of her absolute favorites were Haagen-Daz coffee ice cream, red velvet cheesecake and not far behind was the often imitated but never duplicated, ice-cold Mountain Dew.

While Marian had many roles throughout her life, her most cherished role was being a mother figure to her nephew Terence, nieces Brittany, Ashley and Nikia Carey, and her beloved great niece “Keke” (Akira). She will be greatly missed by her spiritual little sister, Pastor Asia Goubourn, two spiritual sisters’ Mary Lynne Rucker and Jennie Brown and spiritual godmother, Minister Phyllis Counsel. She leaves behind to cherish memories her siblings sister Vicki L. Green, brother Harvey Williams Jr., three predeceased brothers Willie C. Mewborn Sr., Curtis R. Williams Sr., and Ronald E. Williams. Marian is also survived by her sisters in law, Margaret (Peggy) Shuford, Regina Williams, and Dorothy V. Mewborn-Johnson. In addition to her siblings, she will be remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews, cousins, godchildren and many friends.

A celebration of Marian's life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Hamden Memorial Funeral Home, 1300 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden CT 06514. The memorial will begin at 10:00 AM with a service to follow at 11:00 AM. Condolences may be expressed at hamdenmemorialfuneralhome.com.
