Obituary

Margo (VanCise) Hereim, born June 15, 1960, in Jacksonville, Florida, died suddenly on January 29, 2026, in Westbrook, Connecticut.

She was the daughter of the late Margo Diane VanCise of Corry, Pennsylvania, and the late Kenneth VanCise of Higganum, Connecticut, and the stepdaughter of Susan LaRose of Higganum, Connecticut. Margo is survived by her husband, Paul Hereim of Old Saybrook, Connecticut, the love of her life. She was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth VanCise, and is also survived by her sister, Patty (VanCise) Davis of Erie, Pennsylvania, and her brother, Stanley (VanCise) McCoy of Easthampton, Massachusetts, along with dear friends Shannon and Dave Miscio, and several nieces and nephews.

Margo faced the challenges that life gave her with determination, while remaining fiercely independent throughout her life. She was also known for her quick sense of humor and her kindness toward others. After graduating from Haddam-Killingworth Junior-Senior High School, she worked as a nurse's aide for several years. Later, she worked at Stop & Shop for well over two decades, where she was a loyal and hardworking employee until her retirement in June of last year.

Margo was a devoted wife and shared over 35 years with Paul in their home in Old Saybrook. She loved spending time crafting, crocheting, and gardening and was especially fond of her cats, who brought her great comfort and companionship.
