The sunrise on Monday, March 28, 1977, heralded the arrival of an African Prince, who was given the royal name, Khaalis Jabbar Branham. Already loved, this bundle of joy was destined to grow from childhood into manhood and who would become the complete embodiment of life, living, joy, sacrifice; but most of all, of love. Khaalis was born and raised in the city of New Haven, Connecticut. He was forever young at-heart and because of his dynamic persona, kindness, compassion, and outgoing personality, was loved by many. He was well-known for his winning smile, words of wisdom, and definitely, his joyful inability to take himself (or anything else in life) too seriously. An avid sports fan, Khaalis decided to pursue and embrace his favorite sport; basketball. He had the wonderful opportunity to play under the auspices of the Honorable Robert Saulsbury, the award-winning Coach of the Wilbur Cross High School basketball team. Coach Saulsbury was like a grandfather and mentor to him. Khaalis was a gifted and talented man, who was an undiscovered artist and a self-described, 'undercover' chef whose culinary skills left visible smiles of approval on the faces of anyone who sampled his cuisine! He worked for Oliver Painting Company for over a decade. His skilled hands and sharp eye for details made him a true professional. There were many things that Khaalis found to be enjoyable, however there was nothing that made him more of, or could more aptly describe who he was, than his unconditional love and pure adoration for his children!!!!
Khaalis Jabbar Branham's transition was sudden and his peaceful sunset was on the evening of August 12, 2020. He is survived by four, amazing, children; his handsome sons, Brian and Brandon, and beautiful daughters, India and Zion, Also, his loving grandmother Virginia McBird; esteemed parents, Linwood Hill Branham Sr. and Jennifer McBird Mingo; his phenomenal siblings, Jahim, Count, Ayesha Branham, Kenyarba, as well as Andrea and Andre Mingo. In addition to his immediate family, Khaalis bids a "farewell-for-now," to his lovely fiance, Nicole Gibbs, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends and loved ones. Mr. Branham was predeceased by his beloved grandparents, Bessie Rebun Branham and William McBird Sr., and his brother Linwood Hill Branham Jr.
Khaalis Jabbar Branham, although your work here on earth is done, your essence will live on in legacy through your children, and most certainly, in the hearts and fond memories of each of us and all those whose lives you touched. May you rest peacefully now, in the arms of The Divine Creator, until we meet again...Peace Be With You, Forever And Always.
