Kevin
Jiang
Feb 14, 1994 — Feb 6, 2021
New Haven
Kevin Jiang was shot to death at the age of 26 in New Haven, CT on February 6, 2021. Kevin was born on February 14, 1994 in Iowa City, IA to his parents Zhen (Linda) Liu and Mingchen Jiang. He spent most of his childhood in Chicago, IL. As a high school student, he joined the youth group at the Chinese Bible Church of Oak Park (now Cornerstone Chinese Church), where he came to understand the Bible and grew as a follower of Jesus. He then went to college and joined the military in Seattle, WA. He graduated from the University of Washington in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in environmental studies. He moved to New Haven, CT in 2019 to pursue a master's degree at the Yale School of the Environment. While in New Haven, he eagerly volunteered and invited others to join him at Trinity Baptist Church. He also participated in numerous extracurricular activities including the Rivendell Institute and the New Haven Salsa Group. Kevin was warm-hearted and jubilant, rich in service and respect, with a comforting smile. He loved music and the arts, enchanting crowds with his piano skills and motivating novices to step out on the dance floor. Kevin embodied the courage to connect personally with those around him and to uplift those who needed a helping hand. As a veteran of the US Army and a National Guard Reservist, he served his country with excellence. He was engaged to his beloved fiancée Zion, and had much to look forward to. But above all, Kevin lived by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and looked forward to Jesus' promise of the resurrection from the dead. Though his earthly life was cut short, he used the time that he had on earth to the fullest. Kevin is survived by his mother Zhen (Linda) Liu, his father Mingchen Jiang, his stepmother Jun Hua, and his fiancée Zion Perry.
Funeral services will be held at Trinity Baptist Church in New Haven, CT on Saturday, February 13 at 2:00pm. In-person seating is by invitation only, but the service will be live-streamed online. A memorial fund has been set up to care for Kevin's mother in the wake of this tragic loss. Condolences may be expressed at Hamdenmemorialfuneralhome.com.
