Obituary

FRANCISCO JOSE VITORINO, age 68, entered into eternal life on January 31, 2020. He spent his last day with his family listening to all of our fond memories together, as well as the new memories we've created. He learned about his newest grandson, Jaxton Vitorino, who will carry on his name and about the young man that his oldest grandson, Luke Raffone is becoming. We laughed, we cried, there was pain, there was love, we held our dad, napped by his side and truly soaked in every minute of his last hours on earth. Born in Lisbon, Portugal September 18, 1951, Son of the late Jose Vitorino and the late Ilda Vitorino. The beloved brother of the late Zecca Vitorino. The cherished father of Michelle (Vitorino) Raffone of Hamden and Hugo Vitorino of North Haven. The proud grandpa of Luke Ryan Raffone and Jaxton Thomas Vitorino.
Frank  loved sports and was very active in  Racket ball, tennis and table tennis. He was a table tennis champion in his local town. As a young adult he worked in Lisbon's Institute of National Statistics. He served as a sergeant in the Portuguese Colonial War deployed in Mozambique, Africa. In his late 20's he followed his parents to the USA to embark on a new chapter in his life. An avid traveler, he traveled most of the USA with his family, which he always spoke fondly of. When he became a father he was devoted to giving his family a good life. He had a long successful career as a Computer Tech with IBM. A man of opportunity he also built his own computer repairs company, Computing Solutions and worked in real estate. He bought his first home in North Haven, where he and his wife, Rosabela Vitorino raised their family for 14 years. He had proudly accomplished the American Dream.
Frank had a great love for life. He was the light of the party with his big smile and contagious laugh. He cherished his time with family. He looked forward to and often coordinated family cook outs, family dinners and was always excited for the next big family event. You could often find my dad with his shirt off, in the backyard, on the grill hosting and laughing.
Frank was kind and respectful to everyone he met. He was the person that would always hold the door open for strangers, he always said please and thank you and was always ready to help whether it was his closest friend or someone he just met. He was a social butterfly and could make friends with anyone he met.
Sadly Frank was stricken with a debilitating illness in his 50's that changed his life forever. The illness slowly took away most of the person he worked so long to be but it never stopped him from fighting. He worked hard and held onto his dignity, which was so important to him. That is a lesson we will take into our own lives to never stop fighting for the person you are and the person you want to be.
Frank's spirit will live on forever in our hearts. Rest in peace dad. We love you always and forever and will never forget how hard you worked to give us love, laughter, success and morals.
