Obituary

Evelyn F Sabellico, age 97, of Woodbridge passed away peacefully at the Linden of Woodbridge on January 1, 2023. Born on January 18, 1925 she was the beloved daughter of the late Stefano and Pilomena Riccio. Evelyn was the loving wife of the late James V Sabellico. She was the cherished mother of Alex (Teresa) and Linda Lucas (predeceased by husband Robert) of Woodbridge.

She leaves behind her five grandchildren; Traci Faas (Kyle) New Jersey, Robert, RJ Lucas (Tracy) New Jersey, Michael Lucas (Alison) Wallingford, Alexandra Bromley (Adam) Maine, and Jamie Piekarski (Kevin) Rhode Island.

She also leaves behind her beloved great-grandchildren: Benjamin Faas, Maggie Emma, Joshua, and Daniel Lucas, Michael and Alaina Rose Lucas, Evelyn and Caroline Bromley, and Nora Grace Piekarski

Evelyn was employed for the Woodbridge Board of Education.

Evelyn grew up in New Haven and was a graduate of Commercial High School.  She married her beloved husband, James, in 1947, they were happily married for 45 years before his passing in 1991.  Evelyn was employed by the Woodbridge Board of Education for over 35 years, after her retirement she loved to visit her happy place in Cape Coral Florida. Evelyn was a Eucharistic minister at our Lady of Assumption Church for 20 years. Evelyn was an avid walker and she could be seen throughout town walking at least 2 miles every day. She cherished her family, especially enjoying ALL her grandchildren. When she was not with them, you can BET she was at the casino with her favorite cup of Dunkin coffee in her hand. Evelyn's smile was contagious to everyone she met, she has touched so many lives and will never be forgotten.

Family and friends are asked to go directly to Church, for a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 81 Center Road, Woodbridge on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 10am. Interment will follow at Eastside Cemetery in Woodbridge.  Wake will be held on Thursday evening in Hamden Memorial Funeral Home, 1300 Dixwell Avenue, from 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Woodbridge Volunteer Fire Assoc., 100 Center Road, Woodbridge, CT. 06525. Condolences may be expressed at hamdenmemorialfuneralhome.com.
