Ms. Deberry was born on September 17, 1915 in Montgomery County, NC to the late James and Martha Deberry. Ms. Deberry moved from NC in the 1940's to New Haven, CT. Ms. Deberry later moved to New York and became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and retired in 1975. After retirement, she moved back to High Point, NC. Ms. Deberry met the love of her life; Rev John Patterson and they were united in holy matrimony in April 1993. After the passing of her husband, Mrs. Patterson relocated back to Hamden, CT in 2016 while being cared for by her great-nephew, Nathaniel Richardson (Louise), Gene Richardson, and Myra Hughes.
Mrs. Patterson was predeceased by her siblings Lessie Richardson, Mildred Barrett, Bonnie Deberry, Odis Deberry, Creola Deberry, Robert Deberry, and Howard Deberry.
Left to cherish her memory her niece and nephew, Frank Deberry, Marie Deberry, eight great nieces, thirteen great nephews, and a host great-great nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Patterson was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church of High Point, NC where the pastor is the Rev. Rod Ingram.
A celebration of Dilcie's life will be held on Monday, September 14, 2020 at Hamden Memorial Funeral Home, 1300 Dixwell Avenue at 11. Viewing at the funeral home from 10-11am. Condolences may be expressed at hamdenmemorial.com.
