Who loved to be called "lil ole lady" by her children departed her loving family on April 20, 2022. Desiree was born in Duplin county, North Carolina on February 14, 1954 to the late Elizabeth Matthew. Desiree graduated from Goldsboro high class of 1972 where she then attended Wayne Community College, both of North Carolina. Desiree raised her children with love and devotion in New Haven, Ct. With her husband predeceased John w. Mccrea jr. amongst close friends and family. Desiree was known for her beauty and fashion flair, loving the color red along with her firecracker attitude, she was a force to be reckoned with. Always the life of the party to bring lots of love and laughter with her semi southern accent. Desiree served her community in the nursing field working at the hill health center of New Haven, Ct. where after that she became a stay-at-home mother to her three children. Desiree later on married who preceded her in death Joshpeus Jones of New Haven, Ct.

Desiree was the mother of and survived by Angela C.Pearce, Michael Hogan-Mccrea, Michelle A. Mccrea, Tekeyla Cennamo, Goddaughter Rasheeda Newton-Glass & Shana Salters all of New Haven.

Desiree leaves to cherish her memories Brother: Donald Ray Matthews & sister Faye Booker of North Carolina. Grandchildren Satin ,Sincere E Darcher, Malaijah, Heaven T. Mccrea-Brown, Michael jr, Mehki. Great grandchild Kasian Spell. Extended Grandchildren Manna, Keymani, Keyirah & Jayonna.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 1pm at Hamden Memorial Funeral Home, 1300 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden. Visitation from 12-1pm. Condolences may be expressed at Hamdenmemorialfuneralhome.com.
