Obituary

Dawn Elizabeth (Pinto) Guercia, age 88, a longtime resident of Woodbridge entered eternal rest on Sunday January 2, 2022, with family by her side.  Dawn was born on July 8, 1933, to the late James and Estelle (Cole) Pinto in New Haven.  Growing up in Guilford and Hamden, she would recount with joy great memories from her childhood and high school days.  At her core she was a fun loving, strong and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Beloved wife of the late Louis A. Guercia Sr. for 51 years. Lou was a well-known jazz saxophone player in the CT area. Dawn joined him often so they could enjoy his great music together. They were an adoring and committed team. Loving mother of Louis (Mona) Guercia Jr. of Boxford, MA, and Lisa Guercia Cadoret (partner Thomas Blake Jr.) of Derby.  Cherished grandmother of Margeaux Guercia of Boston, Nicole Guercia of Salt Lake City, Ashley (Gregory) Peck of Bethany, Noelle Cadoret of Derby, and James Cadoret Jr. of Bethany. Great grandmother of Brooke Blessing and Lennon Peck both of Bethany. She was predeceased by her siblings; namely, Joseph Ordazzo, John Ordazzo, Claire Mezzanotte, and Anne FitzGerald.

Living in Woodbridge for 47 years, Dawn was a communicant of our Lady of Assumption Church, a member of the New Haven Women's Club and a Sales Associate at Michael's Jewelry Store for many years. She attended countless family activities, like sporting events, birthdays, graduations and holidays.  Dawn was especially close with her sisters, mother, and a group of women she had known for decades. She enjoyed cooking, socializing over a nice meal, and playing bridge.  She was blessed with a long, full life and was much loved.
