Obituary

Chester Carolina was born in Darlington, S.C. on June 2, 1946, son of the late Leo and Marie (Thomas) Carolina. He departed this life on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He received his education in the Darlington County Public School system. After leaving Darlington, S.C., he moved to New Haven, CT., where in many vocations. Chester had a very strong work ethic. His employment included, Pratt: Whitney Aircraft Corp., Long Distance Truck Driver and construction worker. One of his favorite jobs was working for John Brinkley Construction Company. Chester was well loved by ALL of the Brinkley brothers. Chester was a person of many trades and talents. Chester was a kind-hearted person who loved and cherished his family and friends. He loved traveling, playing BINGO at Foxwoods and having family gatherings.

Chester leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Janet Poole-Carolina. Three sisters: Rosa (James) Head of New Haven, CT. Mary Alice Samuel of Darlington, S.C., and Elouise McCall of Columbia, S.C. One brother: Harry L. Carolina of Darlington, S.C., Two daughters: Darletta Carolina (Terril) Clemons of Suffield, Ct., Angela Carolina Brown of New Haven, CT., one step-daughter: Roshonda Poole of New Haven, CT. Four step-sons: Andrea (Percena) Anderson of Washington State, Tyrone (Michelle) Poole, Sr., Terrell Poole, both of New Haven, CT, 12 grandchildren and 11 step-grandchildren. Two sisiter- in laws, Shirley Robinson and Teresa Randolph. A brother- in law Patrich Poole Sr. Many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his siblings: Leola Carolina, Pearlie Sims, Cleo Rush, Edna Greene, Kathleen Cannon, Larry Carolina and Alphonso Carolina, one son: Chester Pearson, step-son: Tramaine Poole, Sr.

We sincerely thank our many family members and friends for their prayers and expressions of sympathy extended to us during the loss of our loved one. Your prayers, love, presence and services have sustained us. We see all of this as God's love and expression through you. Whatever you did to console our hearts we thank you very much. May God continue to bless you forever and ever.

A celebration of Chester's life will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020 at Hamden Memorial Funeral Home, 1300 Dixwell Avenue at 11. Viewing at the funeral home from 9-11am. interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
