Charlene Lynette McMillan, (51) was born on February 3, 1971, in Pinehurst, North Carolina to Edward & Evelyn (McKeithen) McMillan, Charlene departed this life on May 8, 2022 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the oldest of 3 children.

Charlene graduated from Union Pines High School in Cameron, NC. She returned to Connecticut where she obtained various certifications in the healthcare field. Charlene was very popular and enjoyed the company of her many friends whom she considered family. Charlene was the life of the party and her outgoing personality filled any room she entered – her energy was magnetic! Charlene was also warm and accepting of everyone she encountered.

Charlene enjoyed bible study and fellowship with her church family at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bridgeport where she worshiped for years under the leadership of the late Bishop Kenneth H. Moles Sr. Charlene was an employee at ATT for many years. She was highly proficient at her job receiving accolades for outstanding service through the years. Charlene also enjoyed DIY projects around her house.

Charlene was married to John Lee Young Jr 1997-1999. During this union they had 1 son. Knowing Charlene meant that you knew her proudest accomplishment was giving birth to her one and only son John Michael Young. Charlene and John Michael were inseparable, two peas in a pod.  You didn't ask for one without the other. Charlene was a kind and forgiving soul.

Charlene leaves to cherish her memories 1 son: John Michael Young of Washington DC, her parents Edward & Evelyn McMillan of New Haven CT,  2 siblings Edward Lee McMillan Jr, (Sheree) of Memphis Tennessee and Ciarra Ennis (Everol) of  Cheshire CT and 1 half-sister Cherrielle Weaver of NC. Charlene leaves behind her fiancé David Padilla, a host of, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Charlene was predeceased by her paternal grandparents Susie and William Clyburn, her maternal grandparents Christine and Linwood McKeithen and John Lee Young Jr (April).

Charlene you have fought the good fight with unwavering faith, and now it's time for you to take your rest.  A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 14 th , 2022 at Hamden Memorial Funeral Home located at 1300 Dixwell Ave in Hamden at 10 am.
