Obituary

Catherine "Cathy" M (Fusco) Gaetano, age 67, of Wallingford, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at CT Hospice. She was born on April 21, 1953, in New Haven. She was the daughter of the late Philip and Catherine (Raccio) Fusco. Beloved wife of Joseph R. Gaetano, of Wallingford for over 42 years. She was the loving mother of Joseph (Leigh) Gaetano of Florida, and Philip (Blair) Gaetano of Massachusetts. Cherished grandmother of Drew and Gray Gaetano both of Florida. Also survived by sister Carol DellaCamera, of Wallingford, brother in law Sal (Karin) Gaetano, of West Haven, niece Tina (Craig) Crispens of Wallingford, nephew Robert (Jennifer) DellaCamera of Southbury, three great nieces and one great nephew. She was predeceased by brother Gerald Fusco and brother in law Robert Gaetano.

Cathy was a graduate of Amity High School and Stone Academy.  She spent the last 32 years working for County Ob/Gyn as their bookkeeper.  Cathy could always be found somewhere in a basketball gym watching and supporting her two sons and husband.  She traveled all over the country making sure that she attended as many games as possible and she could always be heard cheering the loudest.  She was an original basketball mom!  When she wasn't in a gym she could be found watching the Yankees with her husband or shopping somewhere.  She was even known to many as Mrs. Claus for her generous heart and gift giving.  Cathy found her greatest joy when she was with her children and her grandchildren.  They all meant so much to her and will forever cherish the memories that she made with them.

A wake will be held on Sunday January 3, 2021 at Hamden Memorial Funeral Home, 1300 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be private due to Covid. Cathy fought a courageous 27 month battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She never complained or said "Why Me". Her family would like to thank Dr. Kortmansky, Virginia, Jean, and the rest of his wonderful staff for the thoughtful care they provided to her during her time battling this disease.   In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Smilow Cancer Center and CT Hospice.
