Bobby Eugene
Dubose
Feb 9, 1960 — Aug 1, 2020
New Haven
Bobby Eugene DuBose was born on February 9th, 1960 to the late Maude DuBose and Willie DuBose Sr. in Camden, South Carolina. He was raised as one of five brothers: John, Charles, Gerald, and Eddie; and a sister, Loretta. As a boy, he attended Scranton Street School, Grant Street School, Troup Middle School, and Robert E. Lee High School. During his life, he traveled from California, Indiana, and settled in Connecticut, where he found his partner, Belinda Gibbs, of 28 years.
Many would describe his family life in New Haven, CT as diverse and unique. He extended open arms and a warm heart to a great deal of individuals, young and elderly. He was known for his gift to gab, contagious laugh, and his honesty. There was never a dull moment when he was around. He had a spirit that could fill a room. Bobby cherished many things in life such as his family, his love for sports, and pizza. If he wasn't arguing about his two favorite basketball teams: the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors; or, his two favorite football teams: the San Francisco 49'ers and the New England Patriots, he was cooking up spicy sauces in the kitchen. His request at every restaurant was their hottest hot sauce and, sure enough, no one could top his homemade sauces. Bobby loved to travel. He always pushed his kids to pursue their dreams and to never give up even if it meant traveling from coast to coast. He always took the driver's seat on these excursions and couldn't leave without trying the local pizza and giving his stamp of approval - he was truly a pizza connoisseur.
He leaves to cherish his memory: partner, Belinda Gibbs; children, Demetria DuBose, Nicole Gibbs, Curlishia (Mantrell) Davis, Kiare, Melissa, and Jazzare Mays, Bobby DuBose Jr. and Dominique DuBose; siblings, John (Delores), Charles (Taresa) and Eddie (Joanne) DuBose and Loretta (Ronald) Weatherspoon; grandchildren, Jaeden, Kai, Essence, Nylah, Peyton, Mackenzie, Landon, Zion, Mantrell Jr, Carter, Logan and Kaisley; godson, Deante Petteway; extended brothers, William (Bubba) Proctor and Jerry Powell; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Willie DuBose Jr. and Gerald DuBose.
