Bertha Lee Jones Dundy Davenport of Bridgeport, CT, passed away peacefully at age 89 on August 11, 2020, at CT Hospice. She was born April 2, 1931 in Wilmington, NC, to the late William Edward and Madeline (Hill) Jones. She retired in 2000 after working for 28 years as an Environmental Services Technician at the VA Hospital in West Haven, CT. Bertha, a devout Jehovah's Witness for many years, began studying the Bible in 1959. She lived life to the fullest and enjoyed fishing, working in her garden, traveling, and spending time with her family.  She is survived by her brother, Talmadge Jones of Monterey, CA, sons William E. Smith of Wilmington, NC and Willie Dundy of New Haven, CT, daughters, Madeline Dundy and Azzie Dundy of New Haven, CT, Lillie Dundy of West Haven, CT, and Willie Mae Jones (Clifford) of Staunton, VA. She was preceded in death by husbands Willie Dundy and Robert Lee Davenport, sons Vernon and Robert Dundy, brothers Percy and Dalton Jones, sisters Thelma Anderson and Wilhemina Little, and great-grandson Erin Dundy. Her beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her children, 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

A calling hour will be held Tuesday, August 18 ^th from 5:00-6:00pm, followed by a memorial service from 6:00-8:00pm at Hamden Memorial, 1300 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden, CT. The service will be Zoomed for those who cannot attend. Condolences may be expressed at www.hamdenmemorialfuneralhome.com .
