Hamden
Adeline Jackson Tucker, 88, of Hamden, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford, surrounded by her family.
She graduated from Wilbur Cross High School and attended Southern Connecticut State University, where she studied Biology.
Adeline was the loving mother of Karen Saltos and the late Renee Bahre. She was the daughter of Gertrude Lohman and Blyden Jackson. She is survived by her identical twin sister, Alene Jackson Smith; her niece, Armonda Valeriano; and many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her siblings, Raymond Clayton, James Clayton, Jane Clayton Dansby, and Blyden Jackson; and her daughter, Renee Bahre.
Together, Adeline and her twin co-authored Live, Labor, Love: The History of a Northern Family, 1700–1900, published in 2007. This genealogy book documents the African American roots deeply tied to small towns across Connecticut and New York.
Adeline worked as a Lab Manager at the Yale School of Medicine for 37 years, where she trained students in scientific procedures, managed research inventory, and contributed to publications. In March 2003, she co-authored research archived in the National Library of Medicine.
She was a devoted member of First & Summerfield Methodist Church, where she served on committees, advocated for social justice, and welcomed newcomers to the United States. Her dear friends, Drucilla Cherry and Nancy Davis, will miss her greatly.
Adeline loved to travel and visited countries in Africa, Europe, and Latin America, as well as many U.S. states. She enjoyed dining out, eating Lay's potato chips, hosting family gatherings on holidays, and shopping for home décor.
